Petrol engines :
All New Corsa models are now available with three new, Euro 5-compliant ECOTEC petrol engines – the 1.0i 12v ecoFLEX, the 1.2i 16v VVT and 1.4i 16v VVT. The lightweight 1.0 litre 12v engine delivers a nippy 65PS while the 1.2 and 1.4 litre units, with 85PS and 100PS respectively, feature 16 valves and variable valve timing (VVT) allowing them to provide most of the maximum torque across a wide rev band. The result? Incredible flexibility through the gears, high power and low fuel consumption. And the efficiency doesn’t end there. CO2 emissions are at our lowest levels yet. At just 117g/km of CO2 on the 1.0i 12v manual and 119g/km on 1.2i 16v VVT Easytronic both models qualify for the lower Band C Vehicle Excise Duty (VED).

Turbo diesels :
New Corsa’s diesel-engine range combines performance, refinement and efficiency. The new range-topping 1.7CDTi 16v ecoFLEX (130PS) joins three variations of the 1.3CDTi 16v: the 75PS ecoFLEX, a 95PS ecoFLEX unit with Start/Stop as standard and a further 1.3 95PS ecoFLEX engine available on the upper trim levels. All diesel engines feature a diesel particulate filter (DPF). All four match serious mid-range punch with incredible economy. How do we do it? Common rail injection, an intercooled turbocharger and plenty of Vauxhall know-how.

EcoFLEX :
New Corsa’s ecoFLEX range has among the lowest vehicle CO2 emissions in the UK – so low in fact that the new 1.3CDTi 16v (95PS) models break the sub-100g/km threshold and as such are now exempt from VED.A host of modifications play a vital part in keeping New Corsa ecoFLEX (95PS) at the forefront of eco-conscious motoring: Start/Stop technology as standard, a variable geometry turbocharger, lowered chassis with aerodynamic wheel covers, optimised gear-ratios with a ‘shift up’ indicator and optimised-rolling resistance tyres all help to achieve an incredible 80.7mpg on the combined cycle, creating our most economical model ever. The 1.3CDTi 16v (75PS) also features improved fuel economy, reduced emissions and ‘Start/Stop’ (available as an option). Even the new 1.7CDTi 16v 130PS unit only produces 118g/km Co2. And for the first time, there are now two ecoFLEX petrol models – the new 1.0i 12v (65PS) with just 117g/km CO2 and the 1.2i 16v Easytronic (85PS) with 119g/km. Both models qualify for Band C Vehicle Excise Duty. New Corsa’s trademark fun-to-drive character remains undiminished. On all our Euro 5 engines, you will find a gear-shift indicator in the instrument the cluster. This helps you drive more economically by managing a lower fuel consumption.

Start/Stop :
The New Corsa ecoFLEX Start/Stop models switch the engine off when you stop at the lights or in traffic, then restart it automatically once the clutch is pressed, saving fuel and reducing emissions even further. The AUTOSTOP symbol housed within the rev counter indicates that the engine has stopped. The system can be deactivated manually by simply pressing the ECO button on the fascia. New Corsa 1.3CDTi 16v (75PS) Start/Stop engine reinforces our commitment to eco-driving even further, increasing fuel economy over the non-Start/Stop 75PS models by an incredible 19.9% (3-door). In addition, both Start/Stop engines cut CO² by so much that they qualify for zero VED in the first year, and the 95PS version for the life of the vehicle.

Transmissions :
The 1.3CDTi 16v (95PS) SE and SXi plus 1.7CDTi 16v SE and SRi diesel models come with a six-speed manual gearbox. The rest of the range comes with a five-speed as standard, with sophisticated four-speed automatic (1.4i 16v) and five-speed Easytronic (1.2i 16v) transmissions also available. Choose New Corsa’s optional Easytronic transmission and you’ll get a five-speed manual gearbox with a fully automatic mode. In manual mode, you push the lever forward or back to shift gears up or down and by nudging the level to the side you switch to fully automatic mode. There’s no clutch pedal so you can drive it on an automatic-only driving licence. Awareness of when to shift gear is a key factor in economic driving. The shift indicator is easily visible in the instrument cluster and is standard on all models, letting the driver know the optimum time to change gear for maximum economy.
