Ford Shelby GT500KR


   Shelby Ford has announced that they will build 746 more units to be sold as 2009 Ford Shelby GT500KR, after the successful 40th anniversary Edition Shelby GT500KR "King of the Road" Mustang is sold in 1,000 units. Out of 571 units of Ford Shelby GT500KR 2009 will be devoted to the U.S. market. The 2009 Ford Shelby GT500KR is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 engine that has a supercharged Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack and develops 540 hp. 
   To compliment 1000 2008 40th anniversary Edition Shelby GT500KR "King of the Road" Mustang, Ford and Shelby Automobiles announce that an additional 746 units will be built for model year 2009 to help meet worldwide demand of the supercar. Of that amount, 571 units will be available to U.S. customers so that equal the 1571 unit production run of the original Shelby GT500KR. The rest of the units will be for countries that do not receive 2008 models. "The response to this car has been overwhelming, so I'm glad we could share it with more Mustang enthusiasts," said Carroll Shelby. "This car is really special to me and demonstrates that when Shelby Automobiles will together with Ford SVT and Ford Racing, we can provide a Mustang that will compete with the best in the world." As a limited edition 40th anniversary, 2009 Shelby GT500KR will feature 540-hp 4.5-liter supercharged V-8 with a Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack, suspension tuning 3.73:1 rear axle ratio, short-throw shifter, and unique. Exterior design draws inspiration from the classic Shelby KR Mustangs and features unique carbon composite hood, wheels, and unique striping. The anniversary badging unique-40 will only be displayed in a special 2008 edition. 
    The Shelby GT500KR or "King of the Road" Mustang is a limited-edition Mustang fourth of Shelby Automobiles and Ford have brought to market since continued their collaboration in 2001. It is based on performance and success of the 500-horsepower Shelby GT500 - the most powerful production Mustang ever. "If you drive a Shelby Mustang, you are part of something special: 40-year history of legendary racing and road cars," said Robert Parker, Ford Division Car marketing manager. "That is what has prompted interest in the GT500KR among enthusiasts around the world." Delivering the "King of the Road" . In 2008 Shelby GT500KR began production on the 85th anniversary of Carroll Shelby on January 11, earlier this year. As production ramps up to launch, enthusiasts can expect to see GT500KRs first arrive in dealerships this spring. 
    Each Shelby GT500KR began life as a GT500, built at the AutoAlliance International Inc., in Flat Rock, Mich. From there, the car was sent to Shelby Automobile facility in Las Vegas, where the Ford Racing Performance Pack, exhaust system and short-throw shifter are installed. GT500KR also features a unique body, chassis and interior components. Every GT500KR will be hand customized and delivered to each customer in a closed transporter, like the legendary Ford GT. Strong demand for the new Shelby GT500KR was recently shown at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Az. where one-a-kind version built with glass-roof was auctioned for charity. This GT500KR sold for $ 550,000 winning bid, which went toward helping the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
